Valeria Arendar (b.1994)
Argentinian-Mexican photographer, she studied photography at the Escuela Activa de Fotografía (2013-2015) and holds a degree in Social Communication from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (2014-2018). She is a graduate of the Seminario de Producción Fotográfica at the Centro de la Imagen (2019-2020). She obtained the Jóvenes Creadores grant from the Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (2021-2022). She is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree at the Universidad Iberoamericana UIA.
Her work revolves around the concept that our history can only be perceived, understood, and conveyed through imagination, endeavoring to blur the boundaries between fiction and collective memory. In her leisure time, she enjoys crafting palindromes. Her work has been exhibited in Argentina, Guatemala, Mexico, Ukraine, Lithuania, France, Canada, Georgia, India, Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
In 2022, she co-founded the Melka collective with Eleana Konstantellos.
She is part of Foto-Féminas and Woman Photograph.
