Valeria Arendar (b. 1994).

Argentinian-Mexican photographer. She studied photography at the Escuela Activa de Fotografía (2013-2015) and has a degree in Social Communication from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (2014-2018). She is a graduate of the Seminario de Producción Fotográfica del Centro de la Imagen (2019-2020). She obtained the Jóvenes Creadores grant from the Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (2021-2022) and took part in the last diploma course in Visual Arts Production at the Centro de las Artes de San Agustin Etla, Oaxaca.

She is a member of Foto-Féminas and Woman Photograph.

Her work is based on the idea that we can only perceive, understand and tell our history in an imaginary way, and for this, she tries to cross the limits of fiction and collective memory. He creates images that seek and search. Images that open up inner spaces of retrospection and thought. Images that doubt, that tremble, that think. In this way, his work oscillates and fluctuates permanently between the self and the other: he tries to move from the singular to the plural, trying to make the intimate - the supposedly intimate - public. In his spare time, he writes palindromes.

She has exhibited her work in Guatemala, Mexico, Ukraine, Lithuania, France, Canada, Georgia, India, Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom.  Her work is part of digital platforms such as PICS, Hydra + Photography, PhMuseum and Open Doors.

She is currently an MFA student at the Universidad Iberoamericana.
